Chapter 1: The Stranger

"Reset", a word Frisk has heard countless times, so much so that he's sick of it. He has forced to Reset the Timeline over and over again. He's even loss count of what timeline this one was. He wished that things had just ended back the first Timeline, when he freed the monsters from the Underground, everyone was so happy back then, but sadly their Happy Ending was soon stolen from them. "Boring" Chara called it, "Everyone living "Happily Ever After". What a bunch of bullshit. What is this a Fairytale?" She reached for the reset button. "I've got an even better one." She said with an evil smile. "RESET".

       Now Frisk stood before the person he once called his friend, locked in an endless battle. At first, Frisk didn't stand a chance against sans, he died after the first attack. But with each death, he memorized the attack, and soon the tables had turned. Frisk was dodging Sans' attacks left and right, but he didn't care, he never wanted to win in the first place, he hoped Sans would just kill him already, so that this Nightmare could finally end, and he could go back to the Happy Ending they had before. But as long as Chara had control over him, that wasn't an option. Soon, the battle was almost over, Sans was at his knees, too tired to use any more attacks. "Now Frisk! Finish Him!" Chara said. Frisk held the knife above his head, ready to strike. His hand began to shake. Suddenly, he dropped the knife and fell to his knees. Frisk began to cry. "So you can't do it huh? After coming this far? Very well." She reached for the Reset button once again. "Just like before," She said "We'll keep trying until you get it right!" Frisk looked up at Sans with a look of Despair, and Sans matched it with his own. No matter how much he wanted to save Frisk, there was nothing he could do, this was bigger than him. "RESET". The world then faded away in a bright flash of Light. And the Nightmare began again.

       Frisk stared into the Darkness and saw several letters floating in the darkness, some lower case and some in caps. He recognized this place, he'd seen it several times before, this is where Chara would type in her name before each timeline began. He watched in silence as the cursor moved over the letters to spell a name, "M" "A" "T" "T", "Wait a Second!" Frisk said in surprise. He couldn't believe his eyes, a different name was being written this time! He paid close attention to letters. "M" "A" "T" "T" "H" "E", "Oh, Dangit!" a voice said out of nowhere, "I can't type my full name!" Frisk then heard the voice sigh as the letters "H" and "E" disappeared from the name, leaving just the name "Matt". Then, in a bright flash of light, the Timeline began again. Frisk opened his eyes, once again he laid on a bed of yellow flowers, right in the place where he had fallen.

      "Something's different this time..." he thought to himself. He looked up, expecting to see Chara, but to his surprise, standing before him instead was a boy with black hair, he wore glasses, a Black Hoodie, and a pair of Jeans. He was leaning against the wall, staring at Frisk. He smiled and walked toward Frisk, "Hey! What's up?" the boy said with a carefree smile, "My name's Matthew! It's nice to meet 'cha!" Frisk gave him a confused look, then checked his Menu. The name in the Menu now said "Matt" instead of Chara. Matthew glanced at Frisk's Menu, "Oh! Ya," Matthew said, "There wasn't enough room for me to type my full name, so I had to shorten it to Matt, you can call me Matthew though!" Matthew reached out his hand to Frisk, "Here, let me help you up!" Frisk reached out his hand grab Matthew's, but it went right through it! "Huh?" Matthew said looking at his hand. He then began swinging his hand back and forth through Frisk's hand, watching as it passed through each time, "What am I a Ghost?" He said staring at his hand again. "Well, pretty much..." Frisk said as he got up. Frisk then explained to Matthew that he was the only one who could see him. "Oh, Well, Whatever..." Matthew said giving his carefree smile once again, "Well, I think we've spent enough time in this old place..." Matthew then started toward the Exit. "Come on, Frisk! Let's begin our EPIC ADVENTURE!!!" Frisk looked surprised, "WAIT!" He cried, "How do you know my name?" Matthew looked back at him, "Oh, I've watched lots of other people play this game on YouTube!" Frisk gave him a confused look, "W-What?" he said. Matthew smiled, "Oh Nothing, You probably wouldn't understand. Now Come on! LET'S GO!!!!" Matthew charged toward the Exit, Frisk shrugged and followed behind, he wasn't sure what was going on, but he hoped to find out some answers as he went on.

Flowey sat in the next room, just as he’d always had after each Reset, to wait for Frisk and Chara. He started to hear footsteps, he looked ahead and saw Frisk enter the room. "Oh, your back agai-" Flowey stopped when he noticed something strange, Chara wasn't with him this time, instead in her place was someone he'd never seen before. "Uh, I mean... Howdy!" Flowey thought he'd better switch to his usual dialogue so he didn't confuse the strange newcomer, "I'm Flowey! Flowey the Flower!" Matthew chuckled as he whispered to Frisk, "More like Flowey the Prick. Heh Heh" Flowey pretended he didn't hear Matthew and continued on. "You’re new to the Underground huh? Someone oughta teach you how things work around here! Guess little ol' me will have to do." Flowey engaged them in a Fight, and told them his usual BS about how LV stood for LOVE and to gain more they had to run into the "Friendliness Pellets". "Don't worry, I got this!" Matthew said to Frisk. Matthew moved Frisk's soul to avoid the bullets. "H-Hey Buddy... You missed them." Flowey said as he sent out another wave of bullets. Matthew dodged the attacks again. "Are you Braindead? RUN. INTO. THE. BULLETS! Uh... I mean... "Friendliness Pellets"!" Flowey said as he sent out yet another wave of Bullets. "NOPE! XD" Matthew laughed as he and Frisk dodged the attacks yet again. Now Flowey was pissed, he started to make a very creepy face "YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON HERE DON'T YOU? YOU JUST WANT TO SEE ME SUFFER!!!" Flowey surrounds them with bullets, leaving no way to dodge them. "DIE!!!!" the Bullets begin to close in on them, Matthew looks around, "Hmm" he says as Flowey's creepy laugh continued, "Well Shit, I guess we're screwed." Frisk, already knowing what was gonna happen, chucked at Matthew's goofy comment. Then, right on time, Torial appeared, saving them by attacking Flowey with her fire magic. "Come my child, this way."

       After saving them, Torial led them to the next room. "Ooooohhhhh, I thought we were tooootal gooooners back there!" Matthew said to Frisk in a sarcastic tone. Frisk looked at Matthew confused, "D-Did you know that was gonna happen?", "Of course!" Matthew replied, "I told you, I saw some people on YouTube play this before!", "Still have no clue what you're talking about, but whatever." Frisk said as they walked to the next room, Frisk felt that Matthew's carefree nature was beginning to rub off on him, despite that fact that he's seen this several times before, he couldn't help but smile as they continued forward. Suddenly, Matthew stopped. Frisk turned to Matthew and asked what was wrong. "I just felt a chill down my spine." Matthew looked behind them, then back at Frisk. "Do you... get the feeling we're being watched?" Frisk looked around but didn't see anyone. "N-Nevermind," Matthew said, "It's probably just my imagination." The two of them then proceeded forward.

Chara watched the pair from the Shadows, "I arrive just a little bit late and THIS happens!?!" She clenches her Knife in anger, "That goofy little Idiot thinks he can replace ME? Heh Heh, I'll show him..." Chara begins thinking of a plan when suddenly she hears a loud THUMP from the room behind her. Chara walks into the room and sees a girl resting on the bed of flowers, "How convenient," She says with an evil smile, "Seems fate has provided me with another puppet!"
